How to Purchase a Home in Shelby Acres
At the beginning of each phase, there will be a blind lottery to ensure that fair selection of homes takes place. Once the lottery is completed for each of the homes and selections have been made, the remaining homes will be listed on the market upon availability. - Persons interested in purchasing a home must provide a pre-approval from a mortgage lender.
- To become a prospective buyer and qualify to make a written offer, the prospective buyer must attend a Shelby Acres approved buyer workshop covering: “Credit Report and Scores”, Making a Monthly Spending and Savings Plans” and “Buying a Home.”
- Down Payment Assistance is available to those who meet requirements. Please review the Down Payment Assistance Tab for more information on how to apply and to see if you are a candidate.
- Once a pre-approval is obtained and the Buyer Workshop has been completed, the Buyer along with its representative have one of two options;
- Enter the blind lottery at the start of each Phase. (Please check our Facebook page for announcements on when that will take place) or
- After the lottery has been completed, the remaining available homes will be listed on the open market and available to buyers on a first-come basis.
